LOGISTICS AWARD OF THE YEAR TO THE PESENTI FOUNDATION

An important recognition for the Pesenti Foundation and its commitment to the education and training of a “new generation” of logistics managers and researchers.

The Foundation has been supporting post-graduate excellence scholarships, financing a PhD in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, since 2007. The aim is to strengthen existing skills and establish a center of excellence at the University of Bergamo.

12 November 2010 – Today, during a conference organized by Assologistica (Italian Association of Logistics Companies) at Malpensa Airport, the Pesenti Foundation received the Logistics Award of the Year, now in its sixth edition.

This is the first and only public recognition program in the country that recognizes the invaluable contributions of professionals, companies and academics to the improvement of freight transport logistics in Italy–with a special commitment to research, innovation and training.

THE BOCCONI UNIVERSITY AND THE MIT

The scientific and didactic excellence of the initiative, coordinated by Angelo Renoldi, a professor of Economics at the University of Bergamo, are also granted by the agreement with Bocconi University and Zaragoza Logistic Center, European partner of MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) of Boston.

The Bocconi University of Milan contributes to the management and organization of the PhD Programme with representatives in the Educational Board, Strategic Orientation Committee, in addition to regular performance of teaching activities.

«“This recognition to the PhD program supported by the Pesenti Foundation” commented prof. Enzo Baglieri, Head of the Production and Technology Department at SDA Bocconi and a member of the PhD Board, “is even more significant as it comes from the business community. It demonstrates that the commitment to the education and training of a ‘new generation’ of logistics managers and researchers is highly appreciated by businesses aware of the increasingly strategic role of logistics in our country.”

The MIT-Zaragoza Logistics Center is actively involved in joint educational and research activities, hosting students for full semester and supporting their research projects, as well as involving professors and researchers of the University of Bergamo in the activities of the MIT Global Scale Network.
